Motivational Interviewing

This multi-agency 1 day course will introduce the principles of Motivational Interviewing, exploring what it is and how it works. You will get some opportunities to practice Motivational Interviewing skills and explore how they can support how we work with children, young people and families. We will think about how Motivational Interviewing fits within Safeguarding as well as Sandwell’s ST*R Partnership Practice Model, how we can look out for professional grooming and what we can do about it- including the importance of good supervision and support, as well as thinking about consent and how we share information in the right way.
